Just Add Ink #462 - Just Add a sketch - For the win

At Just Add Ink this week we have a fun sketch for you to use as this week's challenge. I love sketches. They are the perfect way to kick start your creativity if you are a bit stuck ... and I have been this week.

I thought this sketch would be the perfect way to showcase some of my new products. Not that I ever need an excuse to crack open new stuff! I needed to make some cards for boys and men with a sport theme. Lucky I had just received my For the Win stamp set! So many sports covered!

For this card I went quite simple. Quite simply I am exhausted so simple it was!

I used this fab new Denim Ribbon to create the stripes in the sketch. It is a quick and simple way to add texture.

There are lots of great images and sentiments in this stamp set. They are pretty plain which is something I often look for when making cards for teenage boys and men. Sometimes you just need plain images that can be the focal point.

Not sure if you noticed, but there is a bit of a sparkle in the white heat embossed bits. I have used the new Shimmer White embossing powder. It is fabulous - sparkly enough without being too glitzy. It has a holographic shine when you get it in the light. This is one that needs to be seen in person to appreciate!

I had planned to a make a few more in this design. The stripes could be changed to suit different sporting teams. Definitely a design to recreate in different colours. Who has time to think up endless new and creative ideas!

Make sure you pop on over to the Just Add Ink page to see how all the other Design Team members have used this sketch. Why not enter your own creation? We always love seeing them!

Stamp Review Crew - Piece of Cake

Welcome back to another Stamp Review Crew blog hopThe Stamp Review Crew is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world that get together on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month for a blog hop. Each hop we showcase one stamp set and show you just how much you can do with it. Get ready for lots of inspiration and lots of reasons to use (or buy😊) this stamp set! Currently you are visiting Lou Kitzelman on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. Hi!

For this hop we are featuring Piece of Cake.

This is one fabulous stamp set. And if you add in the Cake Builder punch it means you can whip up wonderful cards in no time. I had the privilege to present this bundle at the November 2018 Stampin' Up! OnStage event. You can see the samples that I made here.

We are in the middle of packing to move to our new house (who knew we had so much stuff!) so quick and simple is my mantra at the moment! This gift tag was so quick to whip up with the help of a few new products.

The Follow Your Art embellishment kit was the perfect place to start. It has these cute felt pieces and coordinating Calypso Coral twine which put the icing on the cake - literally!

I used the new Delightful Tag Topper punch. It has 3 slots so you can punch different widths of cardstock. It is a great way to get quick borders.

This tag is perfect to pop on any gift packaging. I added it to Kraft Pillow Box just to show you how great it decorates the present.

This is such a great stamp set. Perfect for quick and easy projects up to more detailed ones - so something for crafters of all levels. And if you add in the Cake Builder punch it is a great, portable set to take if you are travelling around and looking for small craft supplies to fit into small spaces.

Make sure you hop around to see what all the crew have done with this gorgeous stamp set. Next up we have my super talented (and lovely) friend Charlet. I am sure she will wow us as always!

Just Add Ink #460 - Just Add Emboss Resist

At Just Add Ink this week we have a fun technique for you to try as our challenge.

I love embossing of any sort! Adding in the resist part just adds to the fun. I couldn't resist (pun intended!) using my new Butterfly Wishes stamp set with this technique to help show off 2 of my favourite new colours - Rococo Rose and Pretty Peacock.

It's a bit hard to see but my branch and flowers are embossed with clear embossing powder to capture the colour underneath.

I used my trusty Stamparatus to help me. First up I used a wet cotton bud to colour each flower with Rococo Rose ink. After cleaning the stamp, I then stamped the whole image in Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. Using the stamparatus means the image lines up perfectly every time.

Now I should admit that this card was a result of 'well here goes nothing, it can't look any worse!' Once I had embossed on the shimmery white cardstock I splattered Pretty Peacock ink over it. It looked decidedly dodgy and as I tried to wipe the ink off the embossed parts it ran all over the card and well .... I was seconds away from a creative tantrum featuring dramatic cardstock tossing and a few choice words ..... until I somehow rescued the situation. I had grabbed a wet cotton makeup pad to dab off the excess ink and as I wiped it looked less dodgy so I simply wiped the ink all over the cardstock. Shimmery White cardstock lets you move colour around quite well. So now it is decidedly less dodgy!

The bottom of my cardstock had a huge paw print on it when Millie the wonder cat decided to take interest in the action so I torn the edge on an angle. On the upside - it gave me the perfect place to pop some of this gorgeous Pretty Peacock scalloped edged ribbon. Win win! Thank Mil!

So from near creative tantrum to triumph!

Make sure you pop on over to the Just Add Ink page to see how all the other Design Team members used the emboss resist technique. Why not enter your own creation? We always love seeing them!
