Creating Kindness Design Team March 2019 blog hop - A touch of metal

Can you believe how quickly this year is zipping along? March already!!!! For this month's hop we welcome the incredibly talented Sylwia Schreck as our Guest Designer. She lives in Germany and is part of the 2019 Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team. Make sure you check out her beautiful blog here.

Our theme this month is 'a touch of metal'. Immediately heat embossing came to mind. It doesn't matter how many times I do it, every time makes me smile as the powder heats and turn into shiny metal gorgeousness. So I came up with this simple card for my teenage nephew. I needed to keep it cool and understated but I have a feeling the money tucked away inside will make this card a hit!

I am really loving making Pull Out Side Pocket cards at the moment. You can see some more of these cards in my post from earlier in the week. I first saw them when my lovely friend Kelly Kent shared her version here. Kelly saw the idea on Barb Mullikin's blog. Check out her post and video to learn how to make them. Warning - they are a bit addictive. I love the pull out message panel.

As I mentioned earlier I was trying to keep this cool for my teenage nephew. I've used the Geared up Garage bundle and silver embossing powder for the stamping. I love how raised the image becomes after heat embossing. The sentiment stamp actually says Happy Father's Day but I thought the shape would be fun to use on the pull out part so I stamped and embossed 'birth' from the Beautiful Day stamp set to make it work for me.

I think that is quite a few touches of metal, don't you? I've used silver heat embossing, silver foil sheets and a silver key.

Make sure you continue both the video and blog hop. Next up you are off to the UK to see the very talented and fellow cat lover, Jay Soriano. Can't wait to see his creation. He always blows me away!
