Just Add Ink #560 - Just Add a Colour Combo - Hats Off

We have a colour combination for this week's challenge at Just Add Ink.

I have to say I was a bit stumped at first. I love all of these colours but can't say I would normally use them together. I decided to make a fun, masculine card. To brighten the colour scheme, I have added in some Basic White.

Don't you just love that cap! I love that it has a 3D effect. I have used the Hats Off stamp set and Hat Builder dies. The stitching gives such a lovely detail and if you bend the cap along where the brim meets the cap you get more 3D-ness.

My cap sits on a panel embossed using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder and die cut using the Stitched Rectangles dies. The Coastal Cabana strips are created using the All Dressed Up dies. The die is actually used for the bag handle and it makes fabulous stripes on cards as it is the perfect length.

I used the Stitched Rectangles dies for my sentiment. It was a bit long and I had a bit of a tanty ... and started to rip it in annoyance. Funny how a tanty can end up in a design element! My card needed a bit of something else so I added some stapled crosses. There was a time when I was obsessed with adding stapled crosses to my cards .... and now that I have rediscovered my stapler ... well .... you know what that will mean!

Make sure you pop on over to the Just Add Ink page to see how all the other Design Team members used our challenge colours. Why not enter your own creation? We always love seeing them!

  1. Such a cool masculine card, Lou. The background stripes are the perfect touch, and I love the ripped end of the sentiment panel.
