Colour INKspiration Challenge #95 - Pierced Blooms

Check out the lush colour combination we have for our latest Colour INKspiration challenge. Crew member, Jacqui Williams chose this gorgeous pic for us. We are definitely all about the purples today!

Today I decided to just have a play. Honestly, I feel dreadful. I have been unwell for quite a while and frankly I am over it! So to get my mind off my woes I took the best form of medicine .... crafting! My photos are not all schmick and arty, my card is a bit out there ... but I don't care ... I had fun, got out of a funk and just generally checked out for a bit.

I started with a piece of watercolour paper. I used Stampin' Write markers in the challenge colours to scribble onto a piece of plastic, making sure the coloured area was larger than my paper. Then I spritzed the plastic with water and placed my watercolour paper over the top. This technique is called Smooshing  because you .... smoosh the ink around by lifting the plastic and moving it around. It is a really quick and easy way to get lovely watercoloured backgrounds.

Then I spied my pot of Gold Gilded Leafing .... still unopened! So of course I had to use that! I traced around my watercoloured piece on my Blackberry Bliss card base and then brushed Versamark ink refill over the traced line, added Heat and Stick powder. Then it was a matter of heating with my heat tool and adding the Gilding Leafing while still wet and sticky.

It is so fun and while it is a bit more blingy than my normal style I don't mind the effect. I decorated the leaves in the same way. The flowers and leaves are die cut using the Pierced Blooms dies

I was enjoying the gilding way too much and of course had to add some to the inside of my card. I should also add that several things got inadvertently gilded ... my nails, my tweezers ..... my cat (minus the Heat and Stick powder). Note to self .... securely place lid on the Gilded Leafing container when the furry helper is around! She does look pretty though .... and it was a bit of fun trying to get the leafing off her tongue as she tried to get it off her fur!

So job done. One card made and one cardmaker  made happier! I hope that we can inspire your creativity too. x

  2. Lovely Lou, this is gorgeous. I LOVE the gold effect you have created- very arty! My pot is unopened too, and while I don't have a cat I'm confident that I too can create a gold spangled craft area! Hope she's ok. And I wish I could come and craft with you for a bit of fun. Sorry you are not well, I'm glad creating lifted your spirits. Big Hugs,Liz
