Creating Kindness Design Team July 2020 blog hop - Art Inspiration

Hi and welcome to the July Creating Kindness Design Team blog hop. We welcome a fellow Aussie, the fabulous Kayla McCreadie as our Guest Designer. You can check out her amazing creations here

Our theme for July is 'Art Inspiration'. Now I have to admit, I was short on time and ...... short on inspiration. This theme was a bit daunting at first. I was thinking how on earth could I recreate a famous painting. But once I calmed down and really thought about it, I thought about pieces of art that I really love and what I can 'borrow' from them to use in my card. For me it is normally the way colours are put together.

One of favourite artists is Brett Whiteley. He is also Australian and pretty fantastic! One of my favourite painting of his is 'The Cat'. I just love these colours together.

Funnily enough, another favourite painting of my mine also uses similar colours - Vincent van Gogh 'Vase with 5 Sunflowers'.

As I said I am a bit short on time, but I wanted to show that you can take inspiration from art even for a simple card such as this.

I've used blooms from the Jar of Flowers stamp set and coloured them in with Stampin' Blends using colours from my favourite paintings -  Misty Moonlight, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight and Just Jade.

The pot was punched used the Jar Punch. I made it wider to accommodate my blooms by cutting a strip of the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper and only punching one end at a time. I also coloured the pot in with Misty Moonlight Stampin' Blends.

My 'wall' and 'table' were made using papers from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper pack. Stampin' Dimensionals helped give my vase and flowers a bit of depth. Placing 2 double stacks of the Black Stampin' Dimensionals in the middle of the pot, and curling the sides over is a quick and easy way to add a 3D quality to your cards.

So simple, quick and easy .... sometimes that is how you have to roll! Make sure you continue to hop around to each blog. Next up is my amazing friend, Tanya Boser. Can't wait to see her take on Art Inspiration!
