Social Stamping - Out of the box - Playful Pets

Welcome back for another Social Stamping blog hop, hosted by my fabulous friend, Kelly Kent. Our theme for this hop is 'out of the box'. Make sure you hop around to each blog to see some fab creations. If you get lost you can return to Kelly's main post here to get back on track.

Now you know I love a good 3D card fold so I am sure you are thinking that is what I will be doing. Well .... same here but ..... not happening! Just not feeling the 3D in me today! So I have gone extremely literal for this hop. (Sorry Kel!). So I went to my still unpacked Stampin' Up! order and looked to see what I could take 'out of the box'! My Playful Pets Suite was just sitting there .... so that is what I will be using. Yep ..... tenuous link to the theme but ... hmmm ..... no excuses .... it is what it is!

It is a really sweet suite! Now I am not a dog person ... at all .... but I am definitely a cat person. This suite has both covered though I am only catering to the cat lovers today. I'll make some cards using the dogs another day. As soon as I saw the adorable Playful Pets Designer Series Paper I was hooked. The cats are adorable and we won't go into the fact that I named each of them! They are perfect to cut out and use for a card like this.

To give a bit of dimension to each cat, I adhered the bottom of each one with tape and added a dimensional under the head.

This cute kitty even matches one the dies in the Pets dies. I thought this one looked the most like my cat Millie.

Yep .... prepared to be bored by cat pics! She was good enough to pose like the DSP for me!

Millie is a part Maine Coon and here she is in full puff!

And puffed out!

Now .... where were we .... oh cards! These adorable kitties look great in and on the rectangle openings. I have used the cats on the edge of the DSP too! Don't you love the cat playing with the string. They do get themselves in knots!

There are just so many cats on the DSP that I had to make another card using this cutie.

I loved this play on words. Plus it gave me an excuse to use my new Playful Alphabet dies!

I have used some of the new Foam Adhesive sheets to raise my letters.

I saw this really neat tip on Martin Stone's Instagram post. You die cut the letters from your cardstock, then place the dies on the foam sheets and die cut again. The foam is cut but stays in the sheet. Take the sticker backing off the top of each letter, adhere the cardstock letter to it, then pop out and stick to your project. So simple when someone points it out! Doing it this way means you don't use a lot of your foam sheet.

So I was a poking out of the box but not exactly 'out of the box'. Hope you enjoyed my post none the less. Next up is Sandra Collett. Can't wait to see her 'out of the box' creation.

  1. I was certain you would do a 3D card but love how you literally took something out of your box of goodies. I love how you have added the dimensional behind their heads to add some dimension. They look so cute sitting on or peeking out of windows and the one at the top does look like it’s having fun with the twine.

  6. Well now I want to know the names of your card cats!! Millie is exceptionally fluffy and adorable. Your cards are fabulous as well. I love those letters and how the smaller size means you can spell out just about anything! Gorgeous as always, Lou.
