Creating Kindness Design Team July 2019 blog hop - Faux Watercolour Technique

And just like that .... it is time for our July Creating Kindness Design Team blog hop. This month we welcome Christine Versluis as our Guest Designer. Check out her blog here. Our theme for this month is techniques. This week we are moving into our new house which is both exciting and exhausting. So needless to say I needed a technique to show you that was easy and quick. As soon as I saw the Beautiful Friendship stamp set I knew I could do a faux watercolour technique with it.

A DistINKtive stamp set works best for this technique as it does all the shading for you. Minimum effort, Maximum effect! So I had the idea but with all that is going on with me I was still stumped for an idea so I turned to the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue for inspiration. This card uses a layout on page 123.

This is such a gorgeous stamp set. And, teamed with this technique it is just perfect.

I experimented a bit with this technique. I first tried using watercolour paper but I found that the ink moved too much. Shimmery White cardstock worked perfectly for me. Simply spritz the cardstock lightly with water. The trick is to not use too much water. Also, have all of your inkpads open and stamps ready to go because you have only lightly wet the cardstock you have to work quickly before it dries. Otherwise it will be waterlesscolour!

So with the technique worked out I whipped up my card in no time. Grab a few shades of colours like I did for this hydrangea and stamp away!

The sentiments in this stamp set are great as well. A simple stitched frame is all they need!

This was my first attempt on watercolour paper. It's not bad but I preferred the shimmery white cardstock. It is much easier to manage and a bit less unpredictable.

There are so many great images in this stamp set and they allow you to build up your floral arrangement. I love using them for this faux watercolour technique but they look great stamped in the normal way too. I've decorated my envelopes and the inside of each card too.

I hope you give this technique a try. Make sure you continue the blog hop. We have so many great techiques to show you. Next up is my fabulous friend Jenny Hall. Can't wait to see her technique! I am sure it will be amazing.
