Creating Kindness Design Team October blog hop - embossing

Welcome to the October Creating Kindness Design Team blog hop. We are welcoming Dena Albee as our guest designer this month. For October we are all about Embossing - of any kind! I was totally stoked with how my emboss resist technique turned out. Sometimes you just make a card and think - wow! - I made that! Anyway the only problem is that it is shimmery and it's full gorgeousness doesn't totally show itself in the pictures. Trust me - in real life it's pretty spesh!

Recently I saw this fun technique by Patty Bennett where she mixed rubbing alcohol and some Shimmer Paint in a spritzer and used it to shimmerise (and yes I did make that word up) some cardstock.  Make sure you check out her video (the info you need is about 24 minutes in). It gave me the idea to used the shimmer spritz with the emboss resist technique.

I stated with Merry Merlot cardstock, which, by the way is totally gorgeous and I am not sure why I am only just now opening the packet! I placed my die cut word where it would be adhered as a guide and then just stamped the 2 different 'merry' stamps from Merry Christmas to All in Versamark, added clear embossing powder and then heated. I popped the cardstock inside a box and then spritzed away with my copper Shimmer Spritz. The clear embossed words resist the Shimmer Spritz. As the alcohol evaporates the words stand out more. Looks quite elegant as is but add some Shimmer Spritz .........

....... and well ...... see for yourself! Even Millie the wonder cat got shimmerised! Big bushy tails and shimmer spritz are not a great combination - oh she looked pretty! Unfortunately Millie only stopped still long enough to give me a quick glare and not long enough for a photo!

It worked really well on Tranquil Tide cardstock too.

The Joyous Noel Designer Series Paper adds a nice background to the shimmerised emboss resist pieces.

I am totally addicted to the Shimmer Spritz and have shimmerised everything I could get my hands on! So try it and let me know how you get on.

Stampin' Spritz 3/4 filled with Rubbing Alcohol + 10 drops of shimmer paint = Shimmer Spritz!

Make sure you continue the blog hop. Next up is Carolynn. Can't wait to see her take on embossing. It will be outstanding no doubt!
