Creating Kindness Design August blog hop - Rustic

So somehow we got to August! How did the year whizz by that fast! Anyway welcome to the August Creating Kindness Design Team blog hop. For this hop we have the very talented Caroline van der Straaten from The Netherlands as our Guest Designer.

Now onto the hop. The theme is Rustic. Not a style I thought I usually designed in but when I broke it down, I actually use a lot of the elements that I think of as Rustic. Rustic to me means textures of wood and natural fibres, soft muted colours, images from nature and the country and a relaxed, organic design feel. I might be a bit more rustic that I first thought! So this is what I came up with.

I made 2 variations of the same design. I didn't want you to get bored when you watched my video (link at the end of this post)! You will find all the tips and tricks that I used to create these 2 cards in my video. Please keep in mind that my videos are slightly rustic too!

In each card I have used the gorgeous Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) and this gorgeous crisscross border from the Stitched Labels framelits. Some foliage from the Petal and More thinlits set and this cute bird from the Petal Palette stamp set. In my video I show you how to get the mirror image bird so you can have the happy couple facing each other.

All each card needed was some gorgeous Rich Razzleberry velvet ribbon, an embossed circle and a sentiment from the fabulous Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set to complete the design. I have stamped this sprig of leaves from the Rooted in Nature stamp set in Soft Seafoam and Mint Macaron peeking out from a strip of DSP on both the card envelope and inside. It is a quick, yet elegant way to dress them up.

Rustic enough do you think?

To see the making of these cards, please check out my video. My video style is perfect with this theme - Rustic!

Make sure you continue both the video and blog hop. Next up is the oh so talented and creative Charlet Mallett. Can't wait to see her take on rustic!
