Scrapbooking Global August Blog Hop

Welcome to the first Scrapbooking Global blog hop. We are a facebook group of  people you who love scrapbooking with Stampin' Up! products. This group was started by my friend Sharon Dalton. She does a fantastic job running the show and has provided a fantastic place to gather and find inspiration. Today we are showing you all sorts of scrapbooking ideas using products from the Stampin' Up! 2017/18 Annual Catalogue. Whether you are starting with me or have hopped over from visiting Jenny Hall, you are sure to get lots of inspiration.

For this hop I have a work in progress to show you and more of an idea than a finished project - so get your imagination ready! First a bit of background. I am lucky enough to be Godmother to 2 beautiful children whom I love and adore. When my Goddaughter was born I enthusiastically went about taking copious photos of her and scrapbooking them. Then her brother came along, life happened and lets just say that we have a few years to catch up on. Sound familiar? So rather than stressing about what I haven't done I came up with an idea. We are going to start an album for each of them this year and then we can work backwards to catch up as the urge takes us. It is their album and they can do as much or a little as they like in it.

I am lucky that both kids love crafting with me but as we don't live in the same town we don't get to do it that often. They are old enough now to help me do their albums and could even do them themselves - at least that is the plan. The new Memories & More range from Stampin' Up! makes things simple and quick. It is all coordinated. So much easier than when I first started out. I decided on a few basic supplies from the range to spark our imagination.

Limiting the supplies to start with will keep their interest. They will love shuffling the Memories & More cards and dealing them out, rearranging them and just generally having fun. I firmly believe that scrapbooks or albums need to be used, pawed over and just loved. That might mean that they get a bit dog eared but I would rather that than no one looking at them and treasuring them.

So seeing as we will probably do the pages for each year over the Christmas holidays, I started a little kit for each of the kids using the Wood mount full cases. They are easy for them to just add stuff into them and store easily. The code for these are not in the catalogue but you will find them in the supply list below.

They can add photos to the cases, notes about important events, ideas - whatever they think of to add to the album so that we remember when we come together to make them.

Each case has the initial for each of them on the spine.

I came up with a rough colour scheme for both. I have combined colours from the Colour Theory and Perfect Days Memories & More card packs. I know they will want to pick from each pack and as I am likely to be travelling with my supplies to see them I wanted to keep it to a minimum of colours.
I have feeling that each of the kids will love adding stamped and punched elements so I put together a few supplies that I thought would make a great start.

I have done up a sample layout for each album. Just to show them how we might possibly set it out and how there is room to write things and add photos or mementos. I would love them to rearrange and make it their own. (Apologies for the photo quality - taking photos through the plastic pages is so tricky!).

Just as an example, I did a surprise message pocket using the Tabs for Everything stamp set and the circle tab punch.

We are going to have so much fun putting these together. And how special is that - to be able to make something that I think will be truly treasured for years to come.

Next up is my talented friend Sharon Dalton. You will love her gorgeous projects. Another idea to add to my growing list!
