Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Case the Catalogue

Welcome to our July Stampin' Dreams blog hop. We are from all around the world and have lots of great projects to show you. You have just landed in Australia with Lou Kitzelman. Hi! Our theme for this month is CASEing the Catalogue. If you are not familiar with the acronym it stands for Copy And Selectively Edit. The Stampin' Up! catalogue is not only full of fabulous products but it is jam-packed with photos that you can use as inspiration. Whether it be a layout, technique, colour combination or any other idea, it is a fabulous resource for you to use.

I have chosen to CASE this card which is on page 134. I love the idea of stamping a background and then lightly watercolouring over it. The idea of inlaying a die cut also sparked my interest. Oh ... and I also loved the colour scheme. So ... I pretty much loved everything about it - even though it is not my usual style.

Here are my dragonfly versions.

Now I have to tell that they were not my first versions. I made the ones in the pic below first and only really liked them when I squinted. Since I clearly can not ask all my readers to squint, I thought about what I didn't like. It was the contrasting spots in the background, so I swapped them around and came up with the 'squinting not necessary' versions above.

I have used some Very Vanilla note cards. Normally I would have raised the centre panel with Stampin' Dimensionals but the note cards are a bit too snug in the envelopes if you have too much height. Like I said - this is not my usual style.

I have used Pool Party and Powder Pink in each card and have just swapped the colours around to get 2 versions of the one design. Once I stamped and watercoloured the centre panel, I die cut out a dragonfly, making sure the top wings and the body overhung the edges. I cut a second dragonfly from Very Vanilla, lightly watercoloured the wings, added Clear Wink of Stella to the body and then inlay it into the panel.

Some metallic thread and these super cute sequins (there are different sizes in the container) finished off the design.

The envelopes got some love too. I kept it simple and used the same design on the card inside.

These cards will also be perfect for the CASEing the Catty challenge this week.

Make sure you check out all of the other CASEs. You will see a participant list at the end of each post. Next up you are headed to Germany to visit Kerstin Klar.
