Surprise Pop-up slider cards for Christmas

Well I am just back from a retreat that I helped run with some of my Stampin' Up! friends over the weekend. We had a really great time and it was great to see everyone being so creative. The workshop that I helped run involved watercolour backgrounds that I showed you here and a fun fold called Surprise Pop-up slider cards. This card fold has been around for a long time (my oringial class notes are from 2010!). It is really great because it folds flat to fit into a standard envelope but stands up to go on display.

I had to show you my trusty assistant. Thankfully there are a few diversions in our garden to stop her continually trying to undo my bows!

I have another version to show you as well. You must think I've been sick because I haven't used Glamper Greetings for a few weeks!

To make these cards you’ll need:

·         Card base – 10.5 x 14.5 cm
·         Card front - 10 x 14 cm
·         Card inside (surprise section under slider) – 8 x 12 cm
·         Slider tag – 5.5 x 12 cm
·         Slider tag mat – 6 x 12 cm
·         Scraps of cardstock for your pop-up image
·         Paper cutter with cutting and scoring blade
·         Strong adhesive
·         Ribbon
·         1” Circle punch
·         Tag topper punch
·         Stamps
·         Ink and colours for your image

1.        Cut and score the card front as per the diagram below. Start by cutting in 2 cm from each long side and one short side. Then do the scoring.

2.        Use a circle punch to punch out a ½ circle on the card front - in the centre of the short side where you have a score on the 2 cm mark, not the cut end.

3.        Punch your slider tag and mat pieces with the tag topper punch and mat. Add ribbon.

4.        Lay your cardstock for the surprise section on the card base with the card front over the top. Lightly mark with pencil the area that will be revealed. Remove and stamp your surprise image.

5.        Adhere this section to the card base.

6.        Use strong tape around the 3 edges of the back of your card front, leaving the top with the semi circle cut out free of tape. Also add a strip on the bottom of the flap.

7.        Line the end of your slider tag slide up with the end of your flap and adhere. Adhere the card front to the card back.

8.        Stamp the image for your front and colour and layer if needed.

9.        Adhere the image to your card front, lining the image up with the bottom (11 cm) score line. Only add tape up to the middle score.

10.     Stamp an image or a saying and write your message on the parts revealed when you pull the slider out.

I hope you give this card fold a go. I'd love to see what you create.
