Short and sweet today. Just Add Ink has an inpriration challenge this week. The colours immediately brought to mind the Moraccan Suite in the current Stampin' Up! catalogue.
So I was torn between just using the colours or also going with the wreath. So after half making 2 cards and not really liking either I left them and begrudingly did some housework. That tells you how creatively blocked I was! Then with a clean house I finished both cards. Still not sure if I love them. Squinting and looking side on I love them!
The first is a spinner card. (I have a class on this on Monday so will share the how-to with the other class samples later).
I love the medallion stamp and thought that it could do double duty as a wreath for Christmas. I couldn't quite bring myself to go fully Christmassy - a lovely shop assistant told me how many sleeps until Christmas today and let's just say I wasn't impressed and decided that Christmas in July is not for me!
The bow spins around and can be at the top or the bottom.
This is the 'action' shot! Spinning it around is actually a lot of fun and I can see me making many more.
Using the same materials I also made this card which is loosly based on the sample on page 66 of the catalogue.
(*Edited 15/7/16) Just thought I'd let you know that I was lucky enough to chosen as the winner of this challenge. There were lots of great entries. I guess I like my cards without squinting now!

What a fabulous dual use of the medallion Lou, such a great idea and perfect for our inspiration this week. Thanks for joining us at Just Add Ink.
ReplyDeleteOoooooooh I love that spinning bow. Very clever, Lou. I'm not a supporter of Christmas at this time of the year either - too scary to think about how close it really is, lol. Thanks for joining us again this week at Just Add Ink. x
ReplyDeleteI love your idea of using the Moroccan medallion as a Christmas wreath Lou. And making it a spinner card with a bow on top is even better!!! So fun! Thanks for joining us at Just Add Ink this week.
ReplyDeleteGreat Moroccan cards - I really love the way you have layered the wreath - a great way to use these stamps. Chantell JAI
ReplyDeleteYou're so clever to create a spinner wreath with the moroccan themed images - perfect for a change of look (or in my case when I feel indecisive). It looks great & you've nailed the bold colours. Glad you could play along at JAI again.
ReplyDeleteDi :)
Such a clever idea to have the bow and sentiment spin around, Lou. Lovely card, awesome colours. Thanks for joining us at Just Add Ink this week!
