Masking Paper meets Happiness Abounds

Well! Happy Tuesday. I hope you are having a great day. Mine started bright and early! I had the (slightly nerve wracking) privilege of sharing a fun technique with Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world on a live demonstration in our special FaceBook group. I co-hosting with my new friend, fellow Demonstrator from Canada, Diane Thatcher. We are 2 members from a Demonstrator Council - Building Community, While Making a Difference - and we are all about showing demonstrators how to make a difference in their wider community. For me it is connecting with you, my followers, friends and anyone else who joins in on my crafting journey and helping you find lots of way to bring a bit of joy into your life while creating.

The technique which I shared used Masking Paper to create a fun design.

This technique works really well with an outline image like the large bloom in the Happiness Abounds stamp set. I first saw this technique on a fab card by a fellow Australian Demonstrator, Julianne Richards. So simple, yet full of impact!

Start off by stamping your image using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then use the die which you would normally use to die cut the image to die cut a piece of masking paper. Add the die cut mask over the top of your stamped image. Then add some strips of masking paper to add stripes. I have used 1.3 cm (1/2") and 2 cm (3/4") strips on this card but you can use whatever width works for you. Then grab a blending brush and ink pad and add your ink.

If you are finding that your masking paper sticks a little too much to your cardstock you can remove some of the extra 'stick' by rubbing it on a piece of cotton. I find that I need to do that 4 times to get a fab result.

Don't the cards look great in lots of different colours! The sentiments in the Happiness Abounds stamp set work so well for this design.

I have popped the cards in a Kraft Card Box for a lovely gift for a friend.

You can earn these Kraft Gift Boxes for free during August as part of the Sale-a-bration promotion. Such a quick way to fancy up a card set!

Stay tuned for some more projects coming using Masking Paper and Blending Brushes.
