Creating Kindness Design Team May 2020 blog hop - Animals

Well aren't the months whizzing by .... she says tongue in cheek still stuck in isolation! I hope that you are well and safe and have managed to find lots of creative things to do during these uncertain and very different times that we are living in. Well here's a little blog hop to take  your mind off things and hopefully provide you with some inspiration. Our theme for May is Animals and we welcome Jess Collard as our Guest Designer. You can check out her fab creations here.

My creating for this post started off in a very different direction to how it ended! I was thinking of making a baby card using the retiring stamp set called Animal Outing. It's super cute and happened to be in a pile with some products including Designer Series Paper (DSP) that is also retiring. Quite a big pile I might add! One packet had not even been opened, shock, horror! So I decided I should at least open it and have a look. The Mosaic Mood DSP has some really lovely designs in it so feeling guilty for leaving it on the shelf for long, I decided I should make something with it. And it did have birds on one page - that's an animal ... winning!

I made (another) Bay Window Card. Yep ..... this week's crafty fad of mine. I just love them. You don't use up any extra product compared to a regular card, but you get this great 3D effect. You can see others that I have made and find out how to make them here. This shot gives you a better idea on how it stands up.

And it still looks pretty nice when folded flat to fit into a standard envelope.

I have fussy cut these gorgeous mosaic birds from the DSP and only adhered them to one panel so that when you fold the card to stand up they stick out a bit as if flying.

I've added this simple sentiment so that I can use this for a few occasions. I now have a box with more of these cut, scored and ready to put together. Why not use the whole sheet of DSP rather than putting it back on the shelf! These images on the DSP are raised and shiny - it's a bit hard to capture though.

Now back on track .... where was I .... oh yes a baby card! I chose another piece of DSP from the pack for this card.

To decorate the card I have added a kangaroo coloured with Stampin' Blends, surrounded by some Coastal Cabana foliage from the coordinating Animal Dies, some felt hearts from the Follow Your Art embellishment kit and a stamped heart from the (also retiring) Little Twinkle stamp set.

And do you love those die cut crosses border? It is from the Stitched Labels framelits set. Yes ... also from my retiring product pile! At the time of writing this post, all of the retiring products mentioned bar the Animal Outings stamp set are still available. But don't hang around if you want to purchase any of them. They are only available while stocks last.

Make sure you continue the blog hop. I know you will get lots of inspiration. Next up is Tanya Boser. Can't wait to see her take on!
