Our First Colour INKspiration Blog Hop

Welcome to our first Colour INKspiration blog hop. You might be starting with me or have hopped over from seeing those gorgeous projects by Bronwyn Eastley. I was really excited to be asked to be on the Colour INKspiration Crew! It consists of a team of talented Aussie and NZ Stampin' Up! ® Demonstrators that create projects based on Pinterest inspired colour swatches. Every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 7 pm (AEDT), the Colour INKspiration Crew will get the ball rolling by providing inspiration for each challenge with a blog hop. The exciting thing is that you get to participate in the challenges too. You don't need to have a blog, be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator or live in Australia/NZ to participate, just ask to join the Facebook Colour INKspiration Group and upload your photo for the challenge. You'll find all the information you need for participating on the group page. Can't wait to see your take on our first colour combination.

So on to the combination for the first challenge - these beautiful summery pastels.

The great thing about colour challenges is that you get to stretch your creative muscle and use colours you might not ordinarily use or use together. I'm not really a pastel girl but I had fun with this challenge. If you get stumped, start with one element - the rest usually falls into place after that. I started with using each colour in my balloon from the new Lift Me Up bundle. I have a tip for you when putting together the large balloon. Run a strip of repositionable double sided tape on a piece of scrap card and assemble the under pieces (the coloured ones). Then use a fine tip glue pen on the back side of the detailed balloon and adhere over the top of your coloured strips. It all stays together this way and lines up perfectly. When it has dried, simply lift off from the repositionable tape.

From there the idea for my card front evolved. Pieces of Carried Away DSP (which you can get for free if you spend $90 AUD from January 4 - March 31 2017) fitted in with the colour combination perfectly.

And balloons need to float right? So I made an acetate pop up centre for a bit of drama.

So simple but really packs the WOW when opened. I cut a card front and back 14.5 x 15.5 cm and scored each at 14.5 cm on the longer side. The 1cm flaps have Tear & Tape on them and before I sandwiched them together I added acetate strips to hold the elements.

It was a bit hard to photograph to show you the angles, plus we had gale force winds which made things interesting. Anyway.... the acetate strips are adhered to the back of the balloons and then another balloon is added over the top to hide the strip. Hopefully with this photo you can get the idea of the construction.

Some DSP for inside the card plus a sentiment and I was done!

Make sure you check out how the Colour INKspiration crew members have used this colour combination and join our Facebook Colour INKspiration Group so you can participate too. Next up is my talented friend Kelly Kent.
