Creating Kindness Design Team August 2019 blog hop - Music

Can you believe it is August already! Crazy! In the last month I have moved house and put my old house on the market. I am exhausted, happy and cannot wait until I get my new crafting space set up. I have a lovely new room which I can hold my classes in as well. At the moment it looks like this .....

.... but in the next week or so it will be all sorted ..... I hope!

So let me tell you all about this month's Creating Kindness Design Team blog hop. We are welcoming Leonie Stuart as our Guest Designer. She is a fellow Aussie and is one of the nicest people I know. Make sure you check out her blog here. Our theme for this month is music.

Sounds like an easy theme but ... well ... you have seen the state of my craft room so I was at a bit of a loss as to what to make. I had limited supplies to easily access and also limited time. Luckily I had just ordered the Silhouette Scenes stamp set. The image of the couple under the umbrella reminds me of singing in the rain .... okay it is a tenuous link to the theme .... but it is a link none the less!

In the circumstances I am quite happy with how this card turned out. I wish my ink blending was as good as our own Paula Dobson's! She is like the grand master blender! I will practice and try to bring out my inner Paula!

The rain in which they are singing in is made using my Fine Tip Glue Pen. I made a dot then dragged the nozzle upwards to make the raindrop shape. Once dry you can blend your ink over it.

The couple is embossed in clear and I used sticky notes to mask off each section so that the colours did not mix. The idea was to make it feel as if the light of their love was shining only under the umbrella or something sappy like that. I perhaps overthought it but as it was the first card I had created in a month, I was just happy to create away. I did get a bit heavy handed with the Pineapple Punch ink .... oh well!

The 'forever' is from the coordinating Sweet Silhouettes Dies. I glued 3 together and misjudged the length. I was hoping to attach it to the frame. Missed it my that (she holds up two fingers, 4 mm apart) much! To raise it, I rolled up glue dots and added to the back at intervals.

Not only am I glad to be able to be back creating but Millie, my furry crafty companion, is also so happy that things are getting back to normal. She loves photo shoots and was not happy to be left out of this one!

Everything gets a smooch!

Apparently my card had too much dimension. Rolling around on it soon 'helped'! Quite tricky for a big furry cat to roll around on steps but somehow Millie managed to not fall off!

Make sure you continue the blog hop. Next up is Danielle. Can't wait to see her take on our music theme! She always blows me away!

Lou
