Multi-tasking for Mother's Day

It's all happening today!  A day that started with a mild panic turned into a great, creative day. I'm surrounded with mess in my craft room - too much mess to create. Panic lead to a coffee and a list. I had a few challenges I wanted to enter and some cards that I needed to make - how could I do everything? Energised by coffee my solution emerged. I created a huge mound of 'to be sorted' items out of sight and realised that I could make 1 card for 3 challenges and it would also be for my Mother-in-law for Mother's Day.

First things first - here is my card.

This card fits perfectly with this week's challenges at TGIF (#tgifc52) .....

...............and Just Add Ink (JAI #308) - Just Add M. I also now have a card ready to send to my Mother-in-law. My list was soon getting smaller. Of course my eyes remained averted from the mound.

I have also been itching to play with some of the new stamp sets that I was lucky to receive at OnStage last Saturday where we got to see the new catalogue from Stampin' Up!. You'll be able to order from it from June 1st. I think that is what caused my panic this morning - the ever present struggle between what I want to do and what I need to do! Being a grown up is hard sometimes! I have used one of the new stamp sets called Mixed Borders. It is really great and I think you'll love it. There are border strips with a gap for you to stamp your sentiment, of which there are 4 in the set.

Mixed Borders was perfect to use with the Crazy About You stamp set and Rose Garden thinlits so that I could participate in a 3rd challenge - Global Design Project #GDP032 - Case the designer.

Krista Frattin has designed this great card from which I have taken lots of design elements to create my card.
  • The stripes made using Mixed Borders
  • The colour pink
  • The layout with the main element bottom right
  • Bits poking out from the main element and
  • Something shiny.

The inside of the card is really simple and uses elements from the design on the front.

So ........ I was on a roll (who wants to clean up a mound of stuff) so I used those same products and design to create a card for the one-for-one card swap that Kylie Bertucci is running. It's not too late to participate - just remember to add the priority mail stamp so that Kylie receives it my Friday April 29th.

I used my favourite colour combination of Crushed Curry and Night of Navy for a unisex card. Because Mixed Borders is photopolymer it is so easy to line up to make a pattern. The card is for someone I may not know and the theme is Encouragement so I have added 'For being you' from Crazy About You. Mixed Borders also has great little stamps like these brackets. I can see me using them a lot.

Such a super quick card that I hope someone will like to receive. I can't wait to see what lovely card I will receive. This is my card inside but it would also make a nice card front if you were pushed for time.

So 2 cards and 4 purposes. After much back patting and another coffee to boost energy I think I can tackle some of the things I need to do!

Now on to that mound - if I squint it looks smaller. Better get to sorting - squinting causes too many wrinkles!
